Raising money for Charity:
In the last 38 years the New Forest Marathon has donated over £1.33 million to support over 125 local good causes and community groups. To help this pot grow we have set up the New Forest Marathon Community Fund which is a registered charity (charity number: 1176268). We aim to get as many runners as possible to run for this cause but we recognise that you may have other charities close to your heart, if this is the case we encourage you to donate the first £10.00 of sponsorship to the New Forest Marathon Community Fund to help support the local community groups and inspire healthy projects in the forest and surrounding areas.
With the addition of the UK Trail Running Festival to our line up we've extended the Community Group oppourtunities to this event creating more oppourtunties for these groups to access funding.
You can find out more about the New Forest Marathon Community Fund on the fundraising page of the website.
We have added an option on the entry page of the race booking process where you can simply add the amount you wish to donate to the fund. After checkout the amount you've entered will go straight to the Community Fund.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in helping to make a difference in our local community.
Charity Helpers:
The marshals and helpers on the course mostly represent the community groups that you are raising money for so please show them you thanks and support.
First Time Runners:
All routes share the same start and finish experience, we have designed it this way to inspire runners to progress to the next level in the following years.
Refunds:
Full refunds will be available within 14 days of purchase, following this we are unable to offer refunds if you do not run.
Wheelchairs, Cyclists and Child buggies
Regrettably, our courses are not currently suitable for wheelchair access so we cannot accept wheelchair entries at this stage.
Cyclists and Child buggies are not permitted to accompany runners in the race due to the narrowness of tracks in certain parts and to avoid congestion. We are however looking to develop these areas in the future.
Headphones:
Although not recommended, personal stereos, IPods & mp3 players can be used at the 2024 UK Trail Running Festival Event. Please read the following advice:
The UK Trail Running Team follow UKA standards and strongly advise that you DO NOT wear in ear headphones or use audio devices during the race for your own safety, especially on road sections. However, we endorse the use of Aftershokz as this provides a safe solution allowing participants to hear their surroundings as well as their music. In 2024 although NOT RECOMMENDED, there will be no disqualification for use of audio devices.
